Collection contains five numbered series of architectural sketchbooks, which include notes and orders by clients and notes and daybooks relating to the Board of Schoolhouse Commissioners, and one numbered series of notebooks on "Trips abroad"; the Athenaeum lacks ser. 1, nos. 17, 69, 93, and ser 4, no. 3, 10, 11, 12. With: a typewritten chronological list of clients from 1886 to 1937; a legal agreement transferring ownership of the firm from Sturgis, upon his retirement in 1932, to Sturgis Associates, a five person partnership; and manuscript notes for a history of the Boston Society of Architects during the period 1898-1918.
